Previously, I created two cards using one of the two “Glass & Gardens” Emboss Folders. I had used the “Glass” Emboss Folder, so this time I decided to work with the “Gardens” Emboss Folder. This set contains two of the narrow embossing folders and can be found in the On-Line Exclusives.
This is a technique I have been seeing with different embossing folders. First, I wanted to work with the NEW “In Colors”. I only have the “NEW In Color Markers” and haven’t ordered the NEW In Colors “Blends” yet. So, I chose a few “Blends” colors that were as close to Strawberry Slush, Timid Tiger and Darling Duckling. For the leaves , I chose Lemon Lime Twist. Basically, first you color in the recessed areas on the embossed panel. Then, for this technique you apply a dark ink to the raised portion on the card stock, so I chose Secret Sea.
I’ve watched a few videos on how to achieve this look and tried applying ink with a clear block. For the most part, this worked, but did leave several areas where the Secret Sea was “blotchy” looking. The hardest part of this technique was to not get excess ink splotches on the white embossed panel. Eventually, I used the finer point of my Secret SeaMarker to go over the raised embossing. Honestly, that was quite a tedious process!
Adding a layer of Secret Sea to the embossed panel before adhering to a folded white card base gave the panel more definition. To complete my card, I added a piece of Navy Twine behind a greeting from the “More Messages” Bundle. Lastly, I did add a few Darling Duckling2025-2027 “In Color Flat Pearls” to several of the flower centers. Happy with how my card turned out, but it was a bit time consuming coloring the recessed and raised areas of the embossed panel.
As previously indicated, I created several cards for my Open House using the “More Messages” Bundle. I absolutely love that once you stamp the multiple word image you can then die cut with the coordinating die. What results are numerous word greetings to utilize on multiple cards! For this card, I again used the “Pretty Florals” Bundle and NEW “In Colors”. HERE is my previous card with similar products.
My main focal point for this card was the floral die cut image. The base of the flower is Lemon Lolly and the detailed die cut portion is in Darling Duckling. If you are noticing a slight hint of orange along the detailed cut lines of the flower, you have a great eye! I colored on the back side of the flower with a Timid Tiger marker, hoping that the orange tint would blend along the edges. For added detail, the Timid Tiger flower center has “Wink of Stella” for a subtle shimmer.
I die cut two of the rectangle panels with the “Textured Notes” Dies, one in the NEWCloud Cover, the other in Secret Sea. My folded card base is in Basic White. A slightly smaller piece of NEW“In Color” DSP in Secret Sea on the white gives a small border. This pattern of DSP just might be my favorite in the pack, but honestly, who can choose just one favorite pattern!
I die cut the leaves from Granny Apple Green card stock. I placed both the flower image and the greeting up on “Dimensionals”. Lastly, a small twine bow in an orange tone completes the card. I did choose to unravel the twine and only use half the strands as this twine was a bit thicker than normal. This card turned out to be super cute and easy thanks to the DSP and Dies. Loving the “More Messages” Bundle!
I chose to work with both the “Pretty Florals” Bundle and the “More Messages” Bundle when I created samples for my recent Open House. I inked the large “More Messages” stamp with Secret Sea and then die cut out ALL of the greetings at once with the coordinating die! What was so fabulous is that I then had numerous greetings to choose from for my cards. You can find the “More Messages” Bundle in the Online Exclusives. HERE is the previous card I made with the same bundles.
As you can see, this card was actually fairly easy to create. From the NEW “In Colors”, I chose Timid Tiger and Secret Sea along with Basic White. I die cut a white panel with the “Textured Notes Dies”. Next, I added a small piece of NEW “In Color DSP” on the lower half of my white panel. This set of dies has quickly become one of my new favorites!
I stamped the leaves in Lemon Lime Twist and the floral images with Timid Tiger. First, the solid layer image was stamped off once and the outline/filler was stamped full strength. The flowers were die cut with the coordinating dies and popped up with “Dimensionals“.
For the finishing touches, I added a narrow strip of Secret Sea just above the DSP along with a Secret Sea layer under the white panel. In addition, a double strand Twine bow in Navy was added with a “Mini Glue Dot“. As a result, this card came together quickly and was a really easy card to create!
