This year for “one” of my Christmas cards, I used several items from the “Joy of Christmas Suite”. I mentioned “one of my cards” because I usually do two or three different cards. Not sure why I do this, probably because I don’t love to duplicate the same card over and over, LOL! Plus, I like having options and some variety! I chose to work with a “foliage spray” from the “Joy of Noel” stamp set and coordinating die along with the “pine spray” from the “Christmas Classics” stamp set.
For this card, I chose Basic White and Soft Sea Foam as my two main colors accented by Real Red, Old Olive and Mossy Meadow. The “foliage spray” was the focal point for this card. First, I stamped this image in “Memento Black Ink” and then die cut. Then I colored the spray with “Stampin’ Blends”. By stamping the “pine spray” several times on the “Stitched Rectangle” die shape, this made a nice background for the spray. Afterwards, I added the die cut image over the stamped pine sprays with “Mini Glue Dots”. After coloring the berries red, I added “Wink of Stella” for a subtle shimmer which is difficult to capture in a photo.
I layered the “Stitched Rectangle” panel (retired dies) on to a white “Deckled Rectangle” layer. I added a greeting from a retired stamp set in Real Red. In addition, to complete this card, I added a “Black & White Gingham Ribbon” Bow with a glue dot. A fairly simple card that turned out exactly as I imagined!
I mentioned this was “one” of my cards. I had several of the Christmas Tags left over from the “Festive Tags Kit” which I turned into cards. Basically, I added a strip of DSP and some ribbon that coordinated with a Pool Party folded card base. My third option was using up some “retired” DSP. I hope to show you that next week. Without a doubt, all my cards turned out to be fairly easy and yet quite cute! Plus, I managed to get them mailed in time for Christmas delivery!
The “So Very Merry” stamp set is not featured in the September – December Mini Catalog, but you can find this great stamp set in the “On-Line” Exclusives. This particular card is a super easy “fun fold” card. I actually made two cards, one with the “Santa” image and the other with the “Angel” image.
Both of these images were colored with “Stampin’ Blends” and die cut with the “Circle” shapes from the “Stylish Shapes” Dies. For the “Santa” card, I used a piece of DSP from “Joy of Christmas” pack. To add texture, the “Angel” card uses a card stock panel embossed with the “Merry Melody 3D” Embossing Folder. The center circle with the image open with a “Z-fold” pull out to the right.
“Irridescent Rhinestones” were used on both cards. The sentiments were die cut with the “Banner” dies from the “Stylish Shapes” Dies. “Wink of Stella” was added to the Santa’s beard and hat along with the Angel’s wings for a subtle shimmer. Overall, both cards were fairly simple to create!
Christmas is coming fast! Hopefully everyone is getting those last minute tasks done like gift shopping and wrapping! Every year I tell myself I need to start my Christmas cards in September so that I’m not overwhelmed after Thanksgiving. But again this year as usual, I’ve waited to start my holiday cards. I must admit I do some of my best work when I’m under pressure!
We’ve been busy with hosting Thanksgiving, but I did have time to create a cute card with the two stamp sets in the “Christmas Classics” and “Joy of Noel” Bundles. This was an easy card to create since I relied on the “Joy of Christmas” DSP and a few images from both stamp sets for my focal point. Again, I have used the “fractured card” technique to showcase my DSP and stamp images. HERE is the previous card where I also used the “fractured card” technique.
Honestly, I kept this card super simple with a bit of stamping, die cutting and coloring with Blends. I chose Real Red, White, Old Olive for my color palette. First, I layered a DSP rectangle from the “Joy of Christmas” DSP on to white card stock. I used a stitched square die cut from the “Stylish Shapes” Dies for my focal point. Adding a slightly larger square of Real Red card stock helped to frame my image. The 1/4″ strips of white card stock were added around the perimeter of the focal point and trimmed off. I added this entire panel to the folded card base with “Dimensionals”.
To complete my card, I added “Wink of Stella” Glitter Brush” to the red berries for a soft shimmer. Lastly, I added a small bow of “1/8″ Metallic Woven Ribbon” in Parakeet Party with a “Mini Glue Dot”. For some added interest, I frayed the “tails” of the bow. Truly a super simple and easy card with very pretty results!
I sincerely hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends! After black Friday, seems Christmas will be upon us before we know it! Better late than never, but I am just beginning to work on my Christmas cards this week!
