This past weekend, I participated in a “Christmas in July” event here in Gatesville, Texas. I spent the past few weeks creating items to sell for this event. I sold Greeting Cards, Gift Card Holders, Mini Composition Books, Corner Bookmarks and “Lemonade Matchbooks“. The gracious owner, Debi, of “Pennoli B&B” in town, allowed several vendors without a store front to set up at her B&B. The event had decent foot traffic and a good time was had by all! I must admit, it certainly is HOT here in Texas! We are looking at temps hitting 100+ for at least the next ten days!

Very excited that the upcoming September-December Mini Catalog with lots of holiday products is just around the corner! I promise to get back in to my craft room very soon. But first, I need to tidy up the mess I made these past few weeks!

Patchwork Pieces Dies, Again!

This is a follow up post to my previous POST where I showed a cute card featuring the “Patchwork Pieces” Dies and the “Inked Botanicals” DSP. When I created the previous card, I had die cut three different DSP patterns from the “Inked Botanicals” prints. Here are the other two cards I created with the remaining die cut pieces.

For the “Thank You” card, I chose to place the die cut pieces on a Very Vanilla layer allowing a slight space between the die cut pieces. That layer was placed on a larger Crushed Curry layer. Then, l used the “stitched flag” and “circle” shapes from the “Stylish Shapes” Dies to build my focal point. The greeting was layered on to the “star” punch from the “Inked & Tiled” Punch Pack. Then I elevated the greeting with “Dimensionals” on to the die cut “flag” shape. To complete this card, I tied a double strand of “Vanilla Baker’s Twine” and attached with a “Glue Dot”.

For the “Thinking of You” card, I embossed a Very Vanilla panel of card stock with the “Metal Plate 3D” Embossing Folder. I chose to mount this piece so the debossed side was showing. The “Patchwork Pieces” Dies were attached to Very Vanilla rectangles and then layered on to a Calypso Coral layer. Basically, the larger die cut rectangle was separated into four smaller rectangles. The greeting was die cut with the “stitched circle” from the “Stylish Shapes” Dies, layered on to another circle shape. This was then layered on to a “Decorative Circle” Punch in Calypso Coral. A piece of “Gold & Vanilla Satin Edge Ribbon” was folded and attached behind the greeting layer. Both cards were fairly simple to create!

Patchwork Pieces Dies!

I finally had some time this past weekend to try out the NEW “Patchwork Pieces” Dies. This set of dies is NEW to the Annual Catalog and found on page 165. I had seen several samples with these dies recently that persuaded me to order them!

Patchwork Pieces Dies!

I paired this die set with the “Inked Botanicals” DSP, which is currently on SALE at 15% off! Love the colors in this pack of DSP! Basically, I cut three different patterns of the DSP with the die. Then I alternated the patterned DSP pieces to form the large rectangle shape. I attached the “stitched” die cut pieces to a larger piece of Basic White card stock and then trimmed down. This allowed me to have the die cut pieces butt directly against each other with no space in between. There are four smaller rectangles that make up the larger rectangle. Since I started with three different patterns of the DSP, I was able to actually make three cards in total!

I stamped the “hello, Friend” greeting in Calypso Coral ink and then die cut with a “stitched oval” die. Sadly, these dies have been discontinued. I layered onto the small oval from the “Double Oval” Punch and then the larger scalloped oval from the same punch. Before adding to the card, the “stitched” die cut rectangle layer was attached to a layer of Crushed Curry card stock.

To complete this card, I wrapped two strands of “Vanilla Baker’s Twine” around the rectangular panel and tied it off with a bow. I placed this layer on the folded card base of Calypso Coral with “Dimensionals”. Lastly, I added two of the “Rustic Metallic Dots” to my card. Bay the way, I will share my two other creations with this “die” later this week. These “stitched” pieces almost made me feel like I was “quilting” with paper!
