Earlier this week, since July 4th was just around the corner, I decided to try and create a Red, White & Blue card to Celebrate America’s 250th! The Red, White & Blue part of this card was easy. However, I had to dig through my crafting stash to come up with something suitable for the “Stars & Stripes”. I managed to find an older retired die from Stampin’ Up! and this is where my crafting journey began!

My folded card base is Real Red along with Basic White and Blueberry Bushel. What’s great is that Stampin’ Up! offers several shades of Red and Blue, so you can pick your favorite color combination! My Blueberry Bushel panel was 4.25″ square and it cut it at an angle, 1.5″ in along the two opposing sides. I cut the swirls and stars die from a piece of “White Glimmer” Paper. The “Stitched Stars” Dies are retired, but I feel they really captured the celebratory feel for my card.
I managed to use all five of the “negative” star die cuts on my card. I chose to color the larger two stars with a “Blueberry Bushel Blends”. The greeting is from the “Round We Go” stamp set which I believe is retired. My only thought is that my greeting needed an exclamation point for some extra emphasis! The red stripes are just 1/4″ card stock strips. As an after thought, for the stripes, I should have used Red Glimmer Paper for a bit more sparkle! This was a fun challenge to create a Red, White & Blue card to honor our nation’s 250th Anniversary!
